I’m Elizabeth, and I want to help you tell the world your story. I’m passionate about helping you clarify your message and refine your storytelling. I love collaborating with writers, and I’ll walk alongside you as you make your work shine.
In 2015 I became the Guest Editor for A Life Overseas, a website that provides content and community for cross-cultural workers. In 2016 I began serving as Editor-in-Chief and continue in that role today. Over the past six years, I’ve edited and published over 200 guest posts for the website. In those six years, the website has been viewed over 3 million times and currently averages about 25,000 views per month.
In addition to the online editing, I’ve also provided content editing and copy editing for several books (both fiction and nonfiction).
Types of Editing Services
I offer two types of editing. The first is content or developmental editing. This deals with the big picture. I can help you identify your storyline and center your manuscript around that main storyline. I can help you figure out what’s missing and where you need to cut. I can guide you to expand in places and simplify in others. I can help you structure the chapters. This will probably involve some back-and-forth conversations.
The second type of editing is copyediting. This looks more closely at the details. I can help you rearrange your paragraphs for readability. I can help you refine your sentences, including offering options for you to choose from. As I comb through the text, I’ll also correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. I won’t be paying as much attention to the bigger picture and will assume that you already worked on those areas.
Regardless of where you are in your writing journey, I would love to work with you to set your story free.
“Elizabeth challenged my word choices and helped me to form a better understanding of my voice, my audience, and especially, my intended message.” –Christina Miyano
“Elizabeth provided both technical editing suggestions as well as topic and voice suggestions, giving just the right amount of criticism and encouragement. Her editing improved my writing without overtaking it or changing it (a problem I had with other editors in the past).” –Julie Jean Francis
“Elizabeth takes in the whole message and works with the details, helping to craft stories that are clear and readable, always reflecting and enhancing the true voice of the writer. She’s not afraid to challenge or praise.” –Marilyn Gardner
